“Iron Swords” War – Member of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, and former Minister of Welfare and Community Safety, MK Meir Cohen, on his visit to Magen David Adom

Member of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, and former Minister of Welfare and Community Safety, MK Meir Cohen (Yesh Atid), this evening visited Magen David Adom’s National Dispatch Center in Kiryat Ono, where he met MDA Director General Eli Bin and other members of senior management, in the light of the “Iron Swords” War.
MK Cohen was briefed on the organization’s activities during war and emergency times, had an extensive tour of the 101 Emergency Call Center, met the MDA teams who are saving lives during Red Alert sirens and the escalation across the country, and heard stories from the EMTs and Paramedics who provided medical care under rocket fire and live shooting during the first moments of the battles, alongside stories of heroism of MDA staff who lost their lives while providing medical aid.

I feel it is my obligation to bless everyone, from the Director General to the last of the volunteers. Special people, a special organization. Well done for what they do. Magen David Adom teams who have been active since the outbreak of the “Iron Swords” War, have been in bolstered numbers across the country, and continue to provide first aid and medical assistance in difficult, complex field conditions, in order to continue saving lives.”
The 15th day of the Iron Swords War: Summary of MDA activity throughout the weekend
During the weekend, Magen David Adom teams provided medical treatment to 14 casualties, including: 3 wounded by shrapnel, of which 2 men (Thai foreign nationals) about 35 years old who were moderately and lightly injured in the Galilee Panhandle and a 22-year-old man in a minor condition in the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council. During Red Alert sirens in Ashdod, a 10-year-old girl went into cardiac arrest and after the efforts of resuscitation operations by MDA teams, the girl’s heart returned to beating and she is hospitalized in a serious condition while being sedated and ventilated. 4 were slightly injured on their way to a protected area in Ashdod and Ashkelon and 6 anxiety victims.
Since the beginning of the war, MDA forces have treated thousands of casualties, dead, seriously, moderately and lightly injured, including MDA personnel who were involved in saving lives. Continuing today (Sat. 21.10) MDA forces throughout the country are on high alert. About 1,400 MDA ambulances, including bulletproof ones, are manned by MDA volunteers and employees who save lives sometimes under fire. Since the beginning of the war (Sat. 7.10), the MDA’s blood services have collected more than 39,000 units of blood from citizens who volunteered. The units and blood components were supplied to all hospitals in Israel for the treatment of the casualties.
Since the beginning of the war, MDA helicopters have carried out dozens of evacuation sorties and evacuated to the Sheba, Beilinson, Ichilov, Shamir Assaf Harofeh, Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals, dozens of wounded civilians and soldiers from the area and the hospitals in the south. After initial treatment in the Barzilai and Soroka hospitals in the south, dozens of ambulances, MICUs and dedicated evacuation vehicles of Magen David Adom, transported injured people of all levels of injury to hospitals throughout the country.

“The entire nation of Israel salutes the Magen David Adom”
The Minister of Health, Uriel Busso (Shas), today (Wednesday) visited the National Dispatch Center of Magen David Adom in Kiryat Ono and met MDA Director General Eli Bin and the senior management team of the organization, in the shadow of the “Iron Swords” war. The Minister of Health heard about the activities of the organization during war and emergencies, conducted a comprehensive tour of the emergency 101 center and got to know in depth the MDA teams who save lives in the shadow of the alarms and escalation throughout the country.
In addition, the minister heard from EMTs and paramedics residents of the Western Negev communities and Sderot about the medical care they provided under live fire in the first moments of the fighting, alongside stories of heroism about MDA forces who sacrificed their lives while providing medical aid.
Minister of Health, Uriel Busso (Shas): “MDA teams are spread all over the country and are ready for any call. During routine times and even more so during an emergency, the role of the doctors, EMTs and paramedics is the most significant and important for civil society. My heart goes out to volunteers and employees of MDA, the pioneers, who jumped first at the beginning of the campaign in order to save lives under fire and lost their lives, may God avenge their blood. They are great heroes and I send my condolences to the families. The entire nation of Israel salutes the MDA organization.”

Day 11 – Iron Swords War – MDA update of last 24 hours
Until 17:00 today, Magen David Adom treated 4 casualties: 31 year old male in moderate condition, a 53 and 32 year old in mild condition with shrapnel injuries, and 1 with anxiety symptoms.
Since the beginning of the war, MDA forces have treated thousands of casualties, dead, seriously, moderately and lightly injured, including MDA personnel who were involved in saving lives. Continuing today, (Tuesday 17.10), MDA forces are on high alert throughout the country. About 1,400 MDA ambulances, including bulletproof ambulances, are manned by MDA volunteers and employees who save lives sometimes under fire.
MDA’s Blood Services held blood drives today in Givat Shmuel, Hazor Haglilit, Jerusalem, Lod, Nof Hagalil, Sajur and Akko.
Since the start of the war (Saturday 7 Oct), MDA has collected over 31,000 units of blood from volunteer donors.
Since the beginning of the war, MDA helicopters have carried out dozens of medevac missions and evacuated dozens of wounded civilians and soldiers from the area and the hospitals in the south to the Sheba hospitals in Tel Hashomer, Beilinson, Ichilov, Shamir-Assaf Harofeh, Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem.
